BUSINESS MANAGER’S REPORT NOV-DEC 2021
Sisters and Brothers, as I sit here and write this article for the Conduit, Thanksgiving has just passed. Employment is still very good. Even with the UBS Islander Hockey Arena finishing up, we still have a little over a hundred travelers working in the jurisdiction. We still have plenty of work on the books for next year. Lots of big hospital projects, Amazons, Ronkonkoma Hub, Discovery Park at Brookhaven Lab should be starting next year, Belmont Park hotel, retail, and another parking garage, and hopefully in another year or two a total renovation of the Belmont horse track. The solar farm in Calverton should start calling for manpower in the next couple weeks. So, we should have another very good year for employment in 2022.2021 should end up being one of the best years when it comes to manhours. With all the travelers and overtime being worked, we should be over 3 million manhours for 2021. The General Fund should end up making over 2 million dollars for the year, which would put the balance in the General Fund at over 10 million dollars. With that being said, at the January Union Meeting we will ask for a Bylaw change to lower the union dues.On October 1st, 2021, Local 25 held its Fourth Annual College Scholarship Golf Outing. This year it was held at Willow Creek in Mt Sinai. Once again, we had great day.At the December Union Meeting we will be raffling off some door prizes, with the proceeds going to the IBEW Local 25 College Scholarship Fund. We will also be raffling off the NY Islander tickets with the proceeds going to C.O.P.E. There will be hot food and drinks, so please try to attend the Christmas union meeting. With this being the last Conduit article for 2021, I would like to thank all the Officers and Committee Members for all the time they put into this Local Union to make it better for all of us to enjoy.Brothers and Sisters, this ends my report for this edition of the Conduit. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Holiday season. And remember to work safe, turn off energized circuits, and always stick together out there. HAPPY HOLIDAYS
